Job Specialists provide employment preparedness assistance and case management to job seekers at the International Institute, as well as referrals to career advancement services. This is a part-time position, and reports directly to the Workforce Solutions Supervisor
(There is some flexibility on days/times, (between the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and the days of Monday- Friday.) )



  • Enrollment into job placement programs as applicable
  • Prepare client for employment success by conducting and creating IEP (Individual Employment Plan), or other employment self-sufficiency plans as required, including identifying strengths and goals.
  • Conduct individualized job searches with job-seekers, including: screening for barriers and finding solutions to barriers, counseling clients work shifts and availability, and speaking to client clients about potential areas of employment client may be able to enter at this time and in the future.
  • Refer job seekers to Job Developers to screen for positions of partner employers
  • Aid clients with resume creation and application assistance, as well as other requirements.
  • Collaborate with Workforce Solutions Job Developers with transporting clients to job interviews and other pre-hire services including drug testing, as needed.
  • Conducts grant-appropriate follow-ups on clients placed into employment through the Workforce Solutions team 
  • Completes grant reporting using proprietary client tracking software and careful documentation of case notes. 
  • Support clients by providing case management to ensure the building of self-sufficiency
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client records and information
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Participate in departmental and agency meetings and training. 
  • Assist with IISTL's Festival of Nations preparation and working at least one shift of the Festival, as well as other agency events. 


  • Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree and relevant experience
  • Must have a car and valid driver’s license with proof of insurance
  • Proficiency in using web-based client database programs and Microsoft Office 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Linguistic ability in Arabic, Dari, French, Kinyarwanda, Pashto, Swahili, Somali, or Tigrinya
  • Well organized and detail oriented candidate
  • Work experience with culturally diverse populations and fast-paced environments preferred
