Duties for this position include:

Assist clients in building job readiness skills

  • Assist clients with completing job applications, designing and updating resumes, and assist in providing one-on-one mock job interviews.
  • Assist with the recruitment, training and coordination of employment volunteers who provide job application assistance, one-on-one mock job interviews and other employment services.
  • Assist with transporting clients to job interviews when needed, as well as drug tests or other pre-hire requirements 

Employment client tracking

  • Update and maintain list
  • Identify clients that have a high level of need and are nearing the end of various grant periods
  • Meet with case management staff to discuss needs of those clients, and assist with connecting to employment services

Job Readiness Class

  • Contact clients via phone or in person, and refer for both sessions of the Job Readiness Class
  • Conduct all required booking and attendance of the course in database
  • Instruct both sessions of the course on a rotating weekly basis
  • Coordinate interpretation assistance from staff or Interpreters based on language need of clients
  • Schedule follow up appointments for graduates to receive interview practice and job search assistance
  • Maintain client database to reflect current participants and graduates

Housekeeping (Hotel) and Dishwashing (Restaurant)- Job Skills Training as needed

  • Recruit participants, and work on program development
  • Instruct classes, and provide follow up as needed

Just Hiredcoordinate semi-regularly an event for newly arrived job seekers and hired individuals as needed

Resource development and volunteers

  • Assist with client donation drives and other resource development, as needed 
  • Assist in the recruitment, orientation and if needed, the supervision of volunteers and interns

Attend meetings and trainings

  • Initial orientation, CPR/First Aid, Citizenship, Volunteer Recruitment, Respectful Treatment and Disaster Preparedness/Response training as required.  Additional professional opportunities available through out the service year.
  • Bi-monthly AmeriCorps meeting
  • Agency & department meetings
  • AmeriCorps trainings, events and activities such as Days of Service, Show-Me Conf. & MLK Day and other service projects as related to the program goal. 

The service commitment is for 11 months, 1720 hours.  Benefits available include:  Living Allowance, Health Care, Child Care Assistance, Assistance in paying student loan intrest accrued during service term and the Segal Educational Award upon successful service completion.
