Career Development Specialists research and synthesize information to deliver relevant career information to clients along their career pathway, and coach each individual personally. This is a full-time position based primarily in the office, requires flexible hours, and reports to Director of Workforce Solutions.

Duties:

  • Assisting with outreach and recruitment of participants for the Refugees Career Pathways program
  • Conducting Career Pathways Orientation for potential participants
  • Assessing and enrolling interested and eligible participants into the RCP program
  • Providing individualized technical assistance and continued coaching to participants
  • Connecting participants to local resources/partners, and referral to internal/external resources and training
  • Creating individualized Career Development Plans with individual participants, and assist with formulation of SMART goals within 3 month, 6 months, and 1 year of program enrollment
  • Conducting targeted research of localized industry information for participants, and for the creation of comprehensive Career Pathway Guides
  • Documenting all client interactions and creating scheduling of clients for check-in on regular basis
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • General computer knowledge and research abilities 
  • Driver's license and valid insurance
  • Must be able to hold some flexibility in hours: able to work two Saturdays a month, and office hours beyond 5:00 pm two times a week.
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as coordinate with colleagues across departments
  • Have proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Posses flexibility and versatility in all aspects of the project

Preferred

  • Language ability in Somali, Swahili, Arabic, or Nepali, Dari, Pashto, Spanish, or Kinyarwanda
  • Familiarity with hiring processes, and some familiarity with barriers to professional employment for refugees
  • Experience working with diverse populations
