The International Institute of St Louis is a not-for-profit organization serving refugees and immigrants. The International Institute of St Louis along with their Southwest Missouri branch office have a mission to build a more connected and productive society to benefit immigrants, their families, and the wider community. Our Springfield office is currently seeking a Full-time Non-exempt dedicated individual to work in the Client Services Department.

Summary Job Description: 

Job Specialists provide employment preparedness support, employability case management, and assist with job search coaching for clients seeking employment at the International Institute of Southwest Missouri. This is a full-time position, and reports to the Springfield Site Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand and support the agency's mission, vision and core values ?
  • Maintain a working knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures
  • Provide culturally competent, equitable client services with minimal supervision
  • Maintain client confidentiality
  • Enroll clients into job placement programs and provide program orientation
  • Prepare client for employment success by creating Employment Plans with the job seekers.  
  • Conduct individualized job searches with job-seekers including: screening for barriers and finding solutions to barriers, counseling clients, determining availability, and speaking to clients about potential areas of employment they may be able to enter at this time and in the future
  • Facilitate employment preparation activities such as interview practices, coaching, and employment readiness trainings
  • Provide regular, consistent connection to clients on caseload 
  • Assist in pre-hire process of job application assistance, resume development, driving to interview, or other necessary requirements, as well as post-hire services such as on-boarding paperwork and driving to drug test
  • Complete necessary program and job retention follow-ups and grant reporting, as required
  • Connect job seekers to long-term career planning information and programs 
  • Support clients by providing case management to ensure the building of self-sufficiency and employability through service delivery and referrals
  • Other duties and tasks, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Two years related experience and/or with job related expertise
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office - Beginners preferred)
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Driver's license and Insured Vehicle / Reliable transportation / Chauffeur's 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Well organized, professional, detail orientated
  • Work experience in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment is preferred
  • Flexible and able to maintain composure, professionalism, and empathy in times of stress
  • Preferred linguistic ability in at least one of the following languages: Swahili, Kinyarwanda, French, Dari, Pashto, Somali, Chin or Russian
