Mental health professional to provide trauma-informed, culturally sensitive outreach, groups, and therapy to foreign born elders, aged 65+. Therapy will be provided either virtually, in the home, or in office dependent on client need. Interpretation support available as needed. This is a part-time position (20 hours per week). Reports to Director of Social Work.

Duties:

  • Conduct outreach to elderly foreign born clients
  • Conduct mental health screenings utilizing the RHS-13
  • Conduct psychoeducation and socialization activities 
  • Intake/Assessment, including:
    • Bio-psycho-social-spiritual Assessment
    • Risk Assessment
    • Mental Status Exam
    • Diagnosis
  • Develop individualized treatment plans
  • Administer PHQ 9 
  • Conduct safety/harm reduction planning as needed
  • Facilitate access to Emergency Services for individuals reporting intent for self-directed violence and/or violence against others
  • Psychoeducation
  • Provide regularly scheduled interventions based on individualized treatment plan.
  • Conduct monthly treatment plan/progress reviews 
  • Adhere to time frame of service per grant requirements
  • Adhere to strict guidelines regarding client confidentiality
  • Adhere to guidelines on mandated reporting

Qualifications:

  • Masters in Social Work (MSW) or Masters in Counseling - required 
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) - required 
  • Strong psychoeducation skills
  • Strong ability to set boundaries
  • Ability to conduct home visits/ home based therapy
  • Training in any of the following modalities - preferred:
    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy 
    • Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, 
    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
    • Prolonged Exposure, 
    • Somatic Experiencing, and/or 
    • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocess (EMDR)
  • High level of language proficiency in Arabic, Farsi/Dari, Kinyarwanda, Nepali, Somali, Spanish, and/or Swahili preferred. Additional language proficiency in Amharic, Oromo, Tigrinya a plus.
