The Social Work / Preferred Communities Program Manager is a full time, exempt employee position. The Program Manager provides supervision and capacity building to a diverse team of social service professionals with the goal of providing excellent case management services to Refugees, Asylees, and Special Immigrant Visa holders who (1) have been in the U.S. five years or less and (2) are experiencing social/physical/economic barriers. Special focus on quality assurance and adherence to grant obligations and outcomes within the Preferred Communities program and state grants. Minimal direct service interventions. This position reports to the Director of Social Work.


Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Supervise Client Advocates and MSW-level Social Worker
  • Task instruction and/or field supervision to department social work practicum students
  • Trauma-informed, client-centered case management services to case load of eligible Refugees / Asylees/Special Immigrant Visa Holders (case load limited)
  • Crisis Intervention & Stabilization Services (limited)
  • Document all services in a timely manner
  • Adhere to guidelines on mandated reporting
  • Complete monthly (at minimum) quality assurance review to ensure grant & agency requirements are being met, including but not limited to file reviews for appropriate documentation; review leading indicator metrics with relevant staff & make service adjustments as needed.
  • Develop and submit semi-annual reports narrative reports for funder in conjunction with the Director of Social Work


  • MSW preferred; BSW accepted
  • 1-2+ years experience serving foreign-born populations
  • Ability to drive clients
  • Highly organized, eye for detail, specifically related to documentation & grant requirements

  • Supervision experience preferred
  • High level of language proficiency in Arabic, Farsi/Dari, Kinyarwanda, Somali, Spanish, and/or Swahili preferred. Additional language proficiency in Amharic, Oromo, Tigrinya a plus.
