The International Institute of St Louis is a not-for-profit organization serving refugees and immigrants. The International Institute of St Louis along with their Southwest Missouri branch office have a mission to build a more connected and productive society to benefit immigrants, their families, and the wider community. Our Springfield office is currently seeking a Temporary Part-time Non-exempt dedicated individual to work in the Client Services Department.

Summary Job Description:

The R&P Case Specialist will work with the International Institute of Southwest Missouri's Refugee Reception and Placement Team. This position responsible to assist new refugee families as they transition to their new life in Southwest Missouri through direct client service.   

Duties and Responsibility:

  • Understand and support the agency's mission, vision and core values 
  • Maintain a working knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures
  • Provide culturally competent, equitable client service per with minimal supervision
  • Maintain client confidentiality
  • Provide Refugee R&P Services that include but, not limited to the following:  
    • Ensure housing is secured and prepared for the arrival of refugee client(s)
    • Welcome refugee client(s) and transport from the airport
    • Conduct client(s) Intake in case management database(s)
    • Conduct periodic home visits to ensure client(s) needs are being met
    • Assist refugee client(s) with benefit(s) and selective service enrollment.
    • Provide required Community Orientations
    • Enroll in English as a Second Language (ESL) classes
    • Enroll Children in School and Childcare
  • Assess clients' individual and family needs
  • Connect client(s) to community resources
  • Schedule and transport clients to appointments
  • Provide interpretation as needed
  • Assist client(s) with employment seeking related activities
  • Document all service activities in the required case management database(s)
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Two years related experience and/or with job related expertise
  • Bilingual in English and Swahili
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office - Beginners preferred)
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Driver's license and Insured Vehicle
