The International Institute of St Louis is a not-for-profit organization serving refugees and immigrants. The International Institute of St Louis along with their Southwest Missouri branch office have a mission to build a more connected and productive society to benefit immigrants, their families, and the wider community. Our St Louis office is currently seeking a Full-time Exempt dedicated individual to work in the Client Services Department.

Summary Job Description: The Receptionist is the face of the agency. It is an extremely important job. All of those who enter the IISTL develop their impression of the agency based on how they are treated at the front desk. This means that all people must be treated with utmost respect, patience, and courteousness. One never knows if the visitor is a client, volunteer, board member, donor, or neighbor. A friendly disposition is key to a successful receptionist. Welcoming all who enter with a warm approach is important. Politeness, patience, and ability to multi-task are essential.    

Duties and responsibilities

  • Understand and support the agency's mission, vision and core values ?
  • Maintain a working knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures
  • Provide culturally competent, equitable client services as directed
  • Maintain client confidentiality
  • Welcoming guests and directing them to the person or office they are visiting
  • Answering phones and forwarding phone calls to appropriate recipients.
  • Sending and replying to office emails
  • Maintaining office supplies and placing orders when inventory is low
  • Scheduling appointments for departments
  • Monitor security cameras
  • Receive packages and mail
  • Accept donations
  • Package and ship online gift sales
  • Accept payments for immigration and translation services
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Skills 

  • One-year related experience and/or High School diploma or equivalency 
  • Communication skills needed to complete job duties
  • Technical proficiency as it relates to this job function
  • CPR and AED certified (preferred)
  • Missouri Notary (preferred)
  • Fluent in a second language
