Part-Time Temporary

International Institute of St. Louis is hiring a part time resettlement caseworker.  Position is temporary ending September 30, 2021, with possibility to extend past September 2021.  Ideal applicant must be proficient in both English and Swahili or Kinywandan.  Resettlement tasks include:

  • Provide resettlement services to newly arrived refugees;
  • Assess clients' individual and family needs;
  • Provide client orientation and intake
  • Develop comprehensive resettlement plan with refugee;
  • Provide interpretation as needed for on-site community providers;
  • Conduct client home visits
  • Occasional evenings and weekends
  • Work within a diverse staff team; providing services across departments
  • As appropriate and needed, provide client transportation using own vehicle.
  • Participate in agency and department meetings and trainings
  • Report any client concerns to supervisor and/or appropriate staff
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information
  • Other duties including grocery orientation, airport reception and as assigned


  • College degree or equivalent experience in social services or other relevant area
  • Bilingual in English AND Swahili or Kinyarwandan, good written English skills
  • Able to work in high activity situations, with quality time management skills
  • Ability to diffuse client complaints/conflicts
  • Ability to make quick, sound decisions
  • Understand and adhere to professional boundaries
  • Comfort using and knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
  • Work occasional weekends, nights.
  • Must have a car and valid driver's license with proof of insurance
  • Willing to obtain a MO chauffeur license
